CONGRATULATION

The Charros de Bejar wish to congratulate La Fortaleza and Las Valentinas for their first place finish in the Pre-State Finals. I know Melesio and his team and Bonny and her girls worked very hard to be as good as they are.

QUEEN

The Board of Directors of the Charros de Bejar are discussing the election of a Queen. It has been proposed that each team nominate a candidate who will raise money for the injured charro fund. The girl who raises the most money will be the Queen.

As a beginning for discussion of eligibility, it has been proposed that, each girl should be between 18 and 25 years of age. They should be able to ride and have a horse. They should also be committed to charreada.

The Charros de Bejar would appreciate any suggestions about this.

COVERED ARENA

Considering the problems caused by the rain at the Pre-State Finals and the Fiesta Charreada, a covered arena that can be used by all the teams is a real necessity.

GREED

Charging each team $200.00 to compete during Fiesta, was apparently not enough for the Former San Antonio Charro Association (now the Ass de Charros). They charged the teams, even though they make about $30,000.00 during Fiesta. Not content with this, they took greed to a whole new level. When the members of Las Valentinas came to perform, not compete, but to entertain the public at the event, they were charged $5.00 per person to get in. The people running that place ought to be embarrassed.

PICTURES

The picture are of Las Valentinas, the tiny girl is my grand daughter Darian, she's 11.
